Introduction to Ayurveda
Ayurveda is often simplified into diet tips or dosha quizzes, but its foundation is far more precise. It is a structured system of medicine rooted in observing patterns in the body, mind, and environment.
In this introductory session, we will return to the core principles that Ayurveda is built upon. We will explore its historical context as a traditional system of medicine, and then move into the fundamental frameworks that guide all Ayurvedic assessment and treatment.
We will begin with the concept of the Pancamahabhutas, or the five elements, and how they manifest in both the natural world and the human body. From there, we will examine the Tridosha model, understanding Vata, Pitta, and Kapha not as personality labels, but as functional principles that govern physiology.
This class is designed to give you a clear and accurate foundation so that Ayurveda feels less abstract and more applicable to your daily experience.
In this session, you will:
Understand the historical and clinical roots of Ayurveda
Learn the five elements and how they express in the body
Gain a grounded understanding of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha
Begin to recognize patterns in your own digestion, energy, and symptoms
This class is well suited for anyone who is new to Ayurveda, or for those who have encountered it before but want a more structured and reliable understanding.
