Abhyanga

A person receiving a back massage, lying face down on a massage table.
  • Abhyanga is a traditional Ayurvedic oil massage that involves applying warm, herbal-infused oils to the body. This soothing technique helps to nourish the skin, promote circulation, and balance the body's energies (doshas). It is known for its ability to detoxify, improve relaxation, and enhance overall well-being by calming the nervous system and rejuvenating the body.

    • Regulates the Nervous System: Deeply calms the "fight or flight" response, reducing the physiological effects of stress and anxiety.

    • Supports Lymphatic Drainage: Stimulates the lymphatic system to aid the body’s natural detoxification process and boost immune function.

    • Enhances Skin Vitality: Deeply nourishes the Dhatus (tissues), improving skin tone, elasticity, and natural luster.

    • Improves Sleep Quality: Grounds the body’s energy to encourage deeper, more restorative sleep cycles.

    • Increases Circulation: Stimulates blood flow to vital organs and extremities, promoting faster recovery and cellular nutrition.

    • Promotes Longevity: A traditional practice used for centuries to strengthen the body’s resilience against the physical signs of aging.

    • Lubricates Joints: Increases mobility and reduces stiffness by nourishing the musculoskeletal system with medicated oils.
